How Posting on Social Media Led to a Voiceover Booking

March 17, 2026 / Tomas Villamizar

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been making a more intentional effort to post on social media — especially on LinkedIn. As a voice actor, it’s easy to get caught up in auditions, recording sessions, and editing, but sharing your work online is an important part of building a professional presence.

Coincidentally, several projects I worked on recently have started to release, which gave me some great opportunities to share clips and updates. One of those posts featured a short clip from an episode of an animated TV show that I had the chance to work on.

In that particular episode, I performed a voice that sounds very different from my natural speaking voice. It was a fun challenge and a reminder of how much versatility can matter in animation voice acting.

Not long after posting the clip, something unexpected happened.

A director I had worked with in the past reached out to me. He told me that he had seen the post and really liked the voice I used in the animated show. In fact, he mentioned that it was one of the reasons he decided to cast me in an upcoming project.

That moment felt a little surreal.

It was probably the first time I clearly saw how maintaining an online presence as a voice actor could directly lead to new opportunities. Posting that clip wasn’t even something I put much thought into. I was simply just sharing a project I was proud of. But it ended up connecting my work with someone who was looking for that exact type of voice.

Not long after that conversation, we scheduled the recording session. The role pushed me in some new directions and definitely challenged me as a performer, but it was also a lot of fun. Sessions like that are always a great reminder of why I love voice acting in the first place.

Even better, the project has now officially been released on a major streaming platform, which makes the experience feel even more rewarding.

This whole situation reinforced something important for me: sharing your work matters. Whether you're posting a commercial, an animation clip, or even behind-the-scenes moments from a recording session, you never know who might see it.

Sometimes the right person just needs to hear the right voice at the right time.
